History and architecture
Wieladingen Castle was probably built as early as the 12th century and was first mentioned in a document in 1260. It served as the ancestral seat of the Lords of Wieladingen, who acted as ministerials of the Säckingen monastery. Over the centuries, the castle fell into a state of disrepair until extensive restoration work began in the 1980s.
Today, visitors can still see impressive remains of the former castle complex:

- Accessible cavities in the walls
The ruins have been secured with steel railings, making it safe to explore.
