Cherry Blossom in Eggener Valley

Hiking in the valley of cherry blossoms

Every spring, the cherry trees of the Eggener valley (Eggenertal) in the Markgräflerland region turn the valley into a sea of white blossoms.

The natural spectacle can usually be admired by the middle of April - starting mid-February, you can find out the estimated time of bloom via the "Blütentelefon" tel. +49 (0) 7635-8249649.

With its favourable climate and fertile loess soil, the location in the Markgräflerland region provides ideal conditions for cherries. And this is why, for generations, the Eggener valley, extending from Liel, Nieder- and Obereggenen to the Hochblauen, has been a perfect area for cultivating cherry trees.

The 12-kilometre hiking loop "Rundweg Eggenertal" offers magnificent views of the valley and various highlights such as "Obstlehrpfade" (educational fruit trails) or the Bürgeln Palace.

One of the many starting points for the trail is Müllheim-Feldberg. Simply follow the two cherries marking the hiking loop of the Eggener Valley.
