Hiking route to Glaswaldsee
Starting point and ascent
The hike begins at the Freiersberg hiking parking lot in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach. From here, follow the Westweg, marked by a red diamond, uphill through dense forests. The steep ascent is rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding Black Forest mountains.
Klagstein: a worthwhile detour
The Klagstein, an impressive rock formation made of sandstone monoliths, is a recommended stopover. Since the Lothar storm, this vantage point has offered a fantastic panoramic view of the Wolftal valley, Schramberg and, on a clear day, even as far as the Swabian Alb, Hohenzollern Castle and the Alps.
The path to the lake
After the Klagstein, the trail continues to the lake plain, a nature reserve at 966 m above sea level. The idyllic Glaswaldsee lake[1] is revealed here. A wild root path provides the first view of the dark lake after about one kilometer.
