The Weisenbach museum of local history

A window into the Black Forest's past

The Heimatstube Weisenbach is a fascinating destination for tourists interested in the history and culture of the Black Forest. This small museum is located in the former Zehntscheuer, a historic building dating back to 1792, which originally served as a manorial fruit storehouse. The Heimatstube was opened in 1999 by the Heimatpflegeverein Weisenbach and has since offered visitors an insight into rural life in times gone by.

Exhibition and special features

The centerpiece of the exhibition is undoubtedly the detailed model of a sawmill. This electrically operated model illustrates the entire process of wood processing, from the delivery of the wood to the production of boards. This interactive presentation is particularly popular with schoolchildren.

In addition to the sawmill model, the Heimatstube presents a variety of objects from everyday rural life. These exhibits give visitors an authentic insight into the living and working environment of earlier generations in the Black Forest. The exhibition is supplemented at irregular intervals by changing themed exhibitions, which may also be of interest to repeat visitors.

Visit and directions

The Heimatstube Weisenbach is located at Kelterstraße 7 in 76599 Weisenbach. For tourists traveling by car, Weisenbach is easy to reach via the B462. The nearest larger towns are Baden-Baden and Rastatt, from which it takes around 30-40 minutes to reach Weisenbach.

It is important to note that the Heimatstube is not open all the time. Visits are possible by appointment. Interested visitors should therefore contact the Heimatpflegeverein in advance. The contact person is Roland Hürst, who can be reached on 07224 5146.

Other activities and special features

In addition to regular museum tours, the Heimatstube also offers a number of special opportunities:

1. civil weddings: The historic building can be used for civil weddings. Many bridal couples, not only from Weisenbach, have already said “I do” here.

2. combination with hikes: The location of the Heimatstube in the Black Forest is ideal for combining with a hike. Visitors can combine the history of the village with an exploration of the picturesque surroundings.

3. local events: It is worth asking about current events or special exhibitions at the Heimatstube that may be taking place during your planned visit.
