The drinking water reservoir is located in a scenic setting above Alpirsbach-Reinerzau. The reservoir stretches over a length of around 3 kilometers, is up to 450 meters wide and reaches a maximum depth of 60 meters. With a water surface area of 62 hectares and a storage volume of 13.3 million cubic meters, the reservoir is an impressive structure in the middle of the Black Forest.

By car
From Freudenstadt, drive out of town on the B28 towards Strasbourg. At the end of the town, turn left into Schömberger Straße and after about 1.5 km turn left towards Schömberg. At the traffic circle in Schömberg, take the first exit in the direction of Reinerzau. In Reinerzau - Oberes Dörfle, turn right into Berneckstraße towards Stausee Kleine Kinzig.
Parking
A parking lot for hikers is located near the water trail and offers a good starting point for your explorations.
By public transport
From Freudenstadt, you can take bus no. 19 (F14 at weekends) to Reinerzau-Oberes Dörfle. From there it is about a 3 km walk to the lake. Alternatively, you can take the OSB to Schenkenzell and from there take bus number 60.
