The Feldberg lift network in the Upper Black Forest is the largest ski area in Germany and offers winter sports enthusiasts a wide range of slopes and activities. With its altitude of 1,450 meters and state-of-the-art infrastructure, it attracts numerous visitors every year.
Ski area and lifts
The heart of the Feldberg lift network extends over 50 kilometers of slopes and comprises 28 lifts. In the core area, skiers and snowboarders will find 14 lifts and 16 runs for all levels of difficulty. The modern lift infrastructure, consisting of chairlifts and T-bar lifts, can transport over 24,000 people per hour, which minimizes waiting times.
The ski area is divided into three main areas:
- Seebuck: At an altitude of 1,449 meters, this is the highest point of the ski area. There are two chairlifts and two T-bar lifts here, ideal for beginners.
- Grafenmatt: Located directly on the Feldberg Pass, a modern chairlift connects this area with the Seebuck. Three drag lifts and a platter lift take skiers back to the top.
- Fahl: A paradise for advanced and expert skiers with a challenging World Cup course.
Winter activitiesIn addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, the Feldberg lift network offers a wide range of other winter activities:
- Cross-country skiing: An extensive network of cross-country ski trails is available.
- Tobogganing: Several toboggan runs, including a 3.2 kilometer run from the Todtnauer Hütte to the Rotenbacherrank.
- Snowshoeing: Guided tours through the snow-covered Black Forest landscape.
- Winter hiking: Well-prepared paths invite you to take leisurely strolls.
- Snowkiting: An exciting alternative to classic skiing for adrenaline junkies.
For freestylers and snowboarders, the Feldberg Snowpark has Germany's longest jib line and numerous other park features.
Arrival and infrastructureYou can get to the Feldberg lift network by car or by public transport:
By car:- From the west: Via the A5, exit Freiburg-Mitte, then B31 and B317.
- From the east: Via the A81, exit Geisingen or Bad Dürrheim, then B31 and B317.
By public transportation:- Hourly connections from Freiburg main station (approx. 60 minutes journey time).
- Bus route 7300 runs daily to the Feldberg.
- Ski bus line 9007 runs on certain days in winter between Falkau, Bärental and Feldberg.
Sufficient parking spaces are available at all access points to the ski area, including a parking garage at Seebuck with 1,200 parking spaces.
