Following the Paths of Famous Women (“Frauenwege“) from Calw
This round tour takes you to the homes or working places of women who lived in Calw and who, until recently, had either been forgotten or hardly noticed. You are introduced, for example, to the court pharmacist Maria Andreä, the biographer Emilie Uhland – companion of the famous poet Ludwig Uhland -, the successful writer Agnes Sapper, the missionary Julie Gundert and one of the first women local councillors, Else Conz. You will also hear the life stories of women who demonstrated exceptional strength and courage or who suffered tragedy in the course of their otherwise “ordinary” lives. In short: this tour focuses on the social and town history from a woman’s point of view.
