History and architecture
Waldeck Castle probably dates back to the 12th century and was once the seat of the noble von Waldeck family, which was first mentioned in a document in 1140. Strategically built as a spur castle overlooking the Nagold Valley, it is one of the largest castle ruins in the northern Black Forest.
